Site establishment is underway in preparation for the works to extend the school's assembly hall and provide additional storage space

Bulk earth works in preparation for the extension to the school's assembly hall have been completed. Detailed excavation work is expected to start next week.

The interior of the old assembly hall has been demolished in preparation for work to extend it. Rain during the previous week has delayed the progress of detailed excavation work, however the building pad for the slab for the extension has been completed.

Progress is being made on preparatory work necessary before the excavation of footings can begin. Hydraulic work is near completion and existing gas lines will now be diverted.

Inside the old hall, temporary ply sheeting has been laid to protect the parquet flooring during future work. Outside, footing work is underway.

The external wall of the existing school hall is being demolished, and the building has been made secure with mesh in place of the walls. It is necessary to remove the wall at this stage so that the new slab for the extension can be exactly matched to the floor level in the existing hall.

The footings have been poured and are ready for low-level blockwork to be constructed. The next stage after the blockwork is laid will be the pouring of the slab.

The slab for the extension has been poured. Its black colour is due to the addition of black oxide, which helps to speed the curing process.

External brickwork has begun, while inside the gutted building a large new stage is being built.

A BER Recognition Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Ngunnawal Primary P21 project will be held on 11 March 2011
