Governance Committees

An overarching governance statement has been developed that outlines nine key elements crucial for good governance of the organisation. This statement can be found at Attachment A PDF File (38kb) .

A revised committee structure will take effect from the start of Term 2 2007.
A diagram representing the new committee structure is at Attachment B PDF File (28kb). The structure centres on a Board of Management and four standing committees for School Resources, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Human Resources, and Teaching and Learning Support.

An outline of the membership and terms of reference of the Board of Management and the four standing committees is at Attachment C PDF File (25kb).

Board of Management
The Board of Management will be the Department’s key advisory and strategic planning group to the Chief Executive and the Senior Executive Team (SET). It will meet once per term. Membership will comprise the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive, Executive Director, Directors and three Principals.

Standing Committees
Four standing committees will provide direction, develop policies, determine priorities and monitor the implementation of initiatives relating to each committee’s area of responsibility.

The Deputy Chief Executive will be the chair the School Resources Committee and the ICT Committee, and the Executive Director will chair the Human Resources Committee and the Teaching and Learning Support Committee.

There will be up to four principal representatives on each standing committee. I have asked the ACT Principals’ Association to nominate representatives for each of the committees.
