Information Updates

Government offer to ACT public school teachers, 25 November 2011

Following further negotiations, the Government has refined the total salary offer made on 26 October 2011 and clarified all outstanding matters with the AEU.

In the first year, the salary offer provides parity with NSW for classroom teachers, executive teachers, deputy principals and casual teachers and a five percent increase for principals with back payment to 1 October 2011. In the second and third years it provides a total salary increase of 7 percent.

On Saturday 26 November 2011, the AEU Branch Council gave in-principle agreement to the refined Government offer, including the preferred salary table, and lifted all work bans.

Bargaining representatives are now proceeding to draft the new Enterprise Agreement. It is expected that teachers will have access to the draft Agreement and explanatory documents in early February 2012, prior to the vote by all teachers in mid-February 2012.
