Q.1 Does the seven day exclusion for students returning from the six areas of high prevalence still exist?

A: No, the exclusion of students who had visited the six areas ceased as from Thursday 18 June 2009.

Q.2 Should students with flu-like symptoms stay away from school?

A: Yes, students who are showing flu-like symptoms and those with an acute respiratory illness should stay away from school.

Q.3 What advice is there for schools if there is a confirmed case of H1N1 swine flu among students or staff?

A: Confirmed cases should stay away from school until recovered.

Q.4 What about contacts of confirmed cases – should they stay away from school and be in quarantine?

A: No contacts of confirmed cases will no longer be required to remain in quarantine and can attend school. However, children who are unwell are urged to stay at home until they recover.
