Step into the Limelight, the Territory’s creative and performing arts showcase event for public schools began in 2007 and has grown to become the largest youth Arts event in the ACT. In 2011 the Gala Performance will move venue to the Royal Theatre allowing greater student involvement and larger audience capacity. More then 1600 students from over 65 public schools from Pre School to Year 12 will work closely with professional artists, tertiary institutions and arts organisations to develop outstanding artistic works for the show.

The aims of Step into the Limelight are:

  • Promote ACT Public education through the Creative Arts
  • Provide enriched learning experiences for students
  • Provide quality teacher professional development through collaboration
  • Showcase a range of quality art works inclusive of all school sectors

On behalf of the Minister for Education and Training, Mr Andrew Barr MLA, the Department of Education and Training is proud to present Step into the Limelight, the ACT’s largest youth Arts event. This year Step into the Limelight will involve three events:
 

  • Art Exhibition held at the ANU School of Art Foyer Gallery 21 June – 2 July
  • Film Festival held at the National Film and Sound Archives Arc Cinema Tuesday 16 August
  • Gala Performance held at Royal Theatre 3 – 4 August including a matinee on the 4 August
