Preschool Enrolments
Preschool Enrolments
Enrolments for 2009
The ACT Government provides 12 hours of preschool education for children in the year before they attend school. Children must turn four on or before 30 April to be eligible to attend. Sessions are either in a long day configuration (2 x 6 hour days) or a short day configuration (3 x 4 hour days). Not all preschool sites offer both types of programs.
Enrolments for 2009 will commence on 1 May 2008. All preschools are amalgamated with primary schools and parents/carers will need to enrol their child for preschool at the relevant primary school. If parents/carers are unsure which primary school this is, please contact your preferred preschool for this information.
Additional information will also be required to complete the process including
- Evidence of date of birth (birth certificate or passport)
- Evidence of place of living
- Evidence that the child is cared for in area (if applicable)
- Immunisation record or status
Parents/carers are encouraged to complete this process as soon as practicable.
Confirmation of enrolment will be offered from 4 July 2008. Children will be offered places in the following order of priority.
- Children living in Priority Enrolment Area (PEA) (and a spaces is held for children flagged for a second year).
- Children with an ACT residential address who are cared for in the school PEA.
Siblings of students currently enrolled in the school with an ACT residential address. - Children with an ACT residential address outside school PEA.
- Residential address outside the ACT (places for interstate residents may not be offered until early in 2009).
Parents/carers are able to apply for a preschool that is outside their Priority Enrolment Area. PLEASE NOTE - parents/carers should nominate a second preschool option in case their first preference preschool reaches capacity.
