International Students Enrolment Process
International students should not be enrolled in a school until their fee-paying status has been established.
- The school will inspect the potential student’s birth certificate or passport to determine their status in Australia.
- If the student is an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, the school may process the enrolment.
- If the student is not an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, a photocopy of their passport and visa will be faxed to the International Education Unit (IEU) on 6205 9239.
- The student’s fee-paying status will be determined by the IEU ie. Fee-paying or fee-exempt.
- The IEU will advise the school in writing of the outcome regarding the student’s fee status.
- If the student is fee-exempt, the school will be advised in writing. The school will enrol the student using the standard processes followed for Australian citizens or Permanent Residents.
- If the student is fee-paying, the school should direct the student to enrol through the International Education Unit (IEU).
- The student will complete an Application for Enrolment into the International Fee-Paying Student’s Education Program. This form is available on the internet at http://www.det.act.gov.au. The application form, certified copies of school reports and a Principal’s reference should be sent with the application fee to the IEU at:
