ACT Assessment Program (ACTAP)
Students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 completed the ACT Assessment Program every year at all government, Catholic and most independent schools from 1998 to 2007. It assessed students’ abilities in literacy and numeracy.
As well as being a source of information that enhanced teacher judgment, ACTAP assisted schools in planning curriculum and provides information for parents and carers. ACTAP also provided student performance information for the ACT and Australian Governments.
Each student received a report of their individual results and schools receive reports on the progress of all students. A student could compare their progress as it related to the National Literacy and Numeracy Benchmarks where applicable, the ACT Curriculum Profiles, the ACT average and the performance of the middle 60% of the cohort and for each strand assessed.
With the introduction of a National Assessment Program in 2008 ACTAP is no longer administered.
