Checklist for Successfully Completing the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge
Background
The Challenge is open to all ACT students who are in years P to 8, including students in Public and Non-government schools and those that are home schooled.
Reading begins in February.
The reading year finishes 6 September.
Checklist
- Schools must register using the School Registration Form
(37kb) by 5 April. - Students must record the title of each book read on their Student Reading Record
(34kb) - Each entry must be signed by a teacher, parent or caregiver to indicate that student has read or shared in reading of the book and that the title is correctly recorded.
- The school contact person oversees the collation of names (of students who have successfully completed the Challenge) on the School Reading Record
(17kb) and then email it to the Literacy & Numeracy section. - The completed School Reading Record is to be sighted by the Principal who then emails verification that the names have been checked and are accurate.
- The Principal should keep a signed copy of the School Reading Record as a record that the entries have been checked and names of students who have successfully met the challenge are accurate.
- Reading finishes on 6 September. All school's Reading Record Summary sheet must be returned by 14 September 2012 at the latest.
On successful completion of the Challenge:
- Students will receive a certificate
- Certificates will be delivered to schools in Term 4 for distribution to students.
- Prizes of books will be awarded to schools with the highest percentage of participants completing the challenge.
