Literacy and Numeracy

The Literacy and Numeracy Section responds to the needs of teachers and schools by planning, organising and providing advice, support and professional development in a diverse range of programs and projects in literacy and numeracy.

In addition the Section supports teachers to devise programs for students identified through the ACT Assessment Program as being in need of literacy and numeracy assistance.

Literacy and Numeracy Strategy 2009-2013

This Literacy and Numeracy Strategy 2009-2013 will support the literacy and numeracy learning of all students in ACT public schools and colleges over the next five years. It is based on a clear recognition that quality teaching and quality school leadership make a significant difference to students’ literacy and numeracy outcomes.
