National Literacy and Numeracy Week 2011

29 August to 04 September
The fundamentals are fun!

National Literacy and Numeracy Week represents a collaborative approach by the Australian Government and school communities to highlight the importance of literacy and numeracy skills for all children and young people, with a specific focus on school-aged children.

The Week gives schools the opportunity to get involved in a range of literacy and numeracy activities. The Week aims to recognise locally the achievements of students and the work of teachers, parents and members of the community who support young people to develop stronger literacy and numeracy skills.

National Activities

Schools across Australia can join the fun and celebrate National Literacy and Numeracy Week by taking part in the exciting national activities, Reach for the Stars, National Celebration of Literacy and the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards!

For more information and to register for the activities visit the NLNW website

Ambassadors

For a third year running Simon Pampena, 'The Maths Man', will be National Numeracy Ambassador. This year's National Literacy Ambassador is well known and loved children's author Jackie French. Simon and Jackie are both passionate about literacy and numeracy and will be getting involved in a number of NLNW activities.

We hope you will join in the fun and get involved in this wonderful nationwide celebration of literacy and numeracy.
