Reading and Writing Festival
This is the 4th year of our Reading and Writing Festival ‘The Word Rocks On’, which incorporates Book Week and National Literacy and Numeracy Week. This includes visiting authors, illustrator workshops, reading picnic, Dad’s breakfast and The Great Book Swap that are whole school events, along with many class activities including ‘Stories in a Box”.

“Dads In Education” Breakfast and Activity Session
Calwell Primary School in conjunction with the P&C will be holding a special breakfast to celebrate the role of Dads in Education. Each child will be encouraged to invite their father or a significant male (grandfather, uncle, friend) to attend. The breakfast will be followed by numeracy dice and card games and the launch of new numeracy kits in each classroom. Each class will be provided with a numeracy kit to complement the implementation of the dice and card activities. The kits contain essential items that assist with the teaching of numeracy with a strong focus on promoting mental computation skills.

He painted with over 600 children and showed them how to record their family members, both living and deceased. Each child in our school is producing a piece of writing about their family to accompany the painting.

Pizzas and problems will be a community event held at Richardson Primary School that aims to engage and inform the community about Mathematics. The evening will start with a presentation on how and why Mathematics is taught at Richardson Primary School; what parents can do at home to help their child improve their mathematical understandings and how you can make Mathematics fun for everyone. The community will then be involved in a rotation of mathematical games that help students learn and practise different Mathematical concepts. The evening will also involve the sharing of pizzas as we believe that the sharing of a meal helps unite and bring people together. Each family will also receive a Show Bag of Mathematical games and resources that they can use at home.
