This includes visiting authors, illustrator workshops, reading picnic, Dad’s breakfast and The Great Book Swap that are whole school events, along with many class activities including ‘Stories in a Box”.

Calwell Primary School Calwell	4 September 2009	“Dads In Education” Breakfast and Activity Session Calwell Primary School in conjunction with the P&C will be holding a special breakfast to celebrate the role of Dads in Education. Each child will be encouraged to invite their father or a significant male (grandfather, uncle, friend) to attend. The breakfast will be followed by numeracy dice and card games and the launch of new numeracy kits in each classroom. Each class will be provided with a numeracy kit to complement the implementation of the dice and card activities. The kits contain essential items that assist with the teaching of numeracy with a strong focus on promoting mental computation skills.
Campbell High School Campbell	2 September 2009	“Books for Older Readers” Students will read and explore picture books for older readers, including themed activities. Parents, teachers and community members will be welcome to participate also.
Chapman Primary School Chapman	24 August 2009 7.30pm	“Let’s Read Together” “Let’s Read Together” is a community building night for Chapman Preschool and Kindergarten parents. The activity-filled workshop will be presented by our Preschool and Kindergarten teachers and will include discussion time, sharing and examples of how reading is taught at Chapman.
Charles Conder Primary School Conder	2 September 2009	“Reading Safari” Students will participate in a “Reading Safari” – an exciting adventure with books – exploring texts by well known Australian authors and illustrators, and responding to these in a range of creative ways. Members of the school and wider community will be invited to join in our journey.

Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School Amaroo	2 September 2009 6.00pm	A family night of Red, Black and Yellow is being held at our school to celebrate families. Duncan Smith, a noted Aboriginal Leader, came to our school on Friday 7 August. He painted with over 600 children and showed them how to record their family members, both living and deceased. Each child in our school is producing a piece of writing about their family to accompany the painting.
Harrison School Harrison	3 September 2009	Maths Bingo and Story Night Students and parents/family will come together to play Maths Bingo. Between each game people will be invited to perform Reader’s Theatre Scripts to the crowd.
Hawker Primary School Hawker	4 September 2009	“Dads and Kids Play Together” Children will play mathematics games with their dads, grandfathers and significant male friends as a shared learning activity and to demonstrate how simple games can be lots of fun for all the family.
Holy Spirit Primary School Nicholls	4 September 2009	“Fathers Read Too” After sharing breakfast with their children, fathers and grandfathers join their children/grandchildren for Literacy rotations from Kindergarten to Year 6. They participate in Guided Readings, Shared Reading and Readers Theatre Groups.
Isabella Plains Early Childhood School Isabella Plains	1 September 2009	“Let’s Read Together” Focus book titled Leaf by Stephen Michael King, short listed for Early Childhood book of the Year. Invite staff, parents and community to suggest learning experiences for our birth to 8 years children followed with mixed groups on the day to participate in experiences. End with a “Reading Morning Tea” where children and families can eat and read together.

The evening will start with a presentation on how and why Mathematics is taught at Richardson Primary School; what parents can do at home to help their child improve their mathematical understandings and how you can make Mathematics fun for everyone. The community will then be involved in a rotation of mathematical games that help students learn and practise different Mathematical concepts. The evening will also involve the sharing of pizzas as we believe that the sharing of a meal helps unite and bring people together. Each family will also receive a Show Bag of Mathematical games and resources that they can use at home.
