Out of Trade Register

The ACT Government is supporting ACT Australian Apprentices who are at risk of losing their jobs as a result of the economic downturn through the ACT Out of Trade Register. The Department provides advice to Australian Apprentices and employers on ways to continue employment and off the job training and retain workers.

Australian Apprentices whose Training Contract has been cancelled or is in jeopardy may be helped to find employment by agreeing to go on the Register. Prospective employers can be provided with the contact details of an Australian Apprentice, once registered. The employer may choose to contact the Australian Apprentice, however, being on the Register does not guarantee employment.

The Register will only be used by the Department to register Australian Apprentices or Trainees who have already had a Training Contract and who want to continue in the same apprenticeship or traineeship qualification.

Employers can seek advice about flexible options for retaining existing Australian Apprentices whose employment might otherwise be terminated, or retrieve contact details of unemployed Australian Apprentices who are looking for employment. Employers can also register their vacancies for matching from the Register.

To contact the Out of Trade Register, phone 02 6205 8555 or email employapprentices@act.gov.au
