Adult Community Education
Adult Community Education (ACE) is a program endorsed by state, territory and Commonwealth Ministers through the Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs (MCEECDYA).
In 2002 MCEECDYA released a Declaration, which strongly emphasises community ownership and the importance of the ACE sector as a pathway to further education and training. The key goals of ACE as set out in the Declaration are to:
- Expand and sustain innovative community-based learning models
- Raise awareness and understanding of the role and importance of adult community education
- Improve the quality of adult community education learning experiences and outcomes leading to further learning pathways
- Extend participation in community based learning
Each year since 1998, the ACT Government has funded a range of ACE programs covering a wide variety of learning needs.
In 2010, 20 programs were funded. Learning Activities included the arts, general education, community participation, employment skills, health and self-help.
In 2012, 18 programs were funded Information on ACE programs funded in 2012
